Accufine
Oral retinoid for severe acne.
Accufine (isotretinoin) treats severe nodular or cystic acne. It works by reducing sebum (oil) production, shrinking sebaceous glands and preventing blocked pores.
How to Take
Take the capsules with food, ideally a meal containing fat to improve absorption. Swallow whole. Do not crush or chew. The dose is typically 0.5–1 mg per kg of body weight per day. A full course usually lasts 16–24 weeks.
Warnings
Strictly contraindicated during pregnancy, it causes severe birth defects. Women of childbearing age must use two reliable forms of contraception. Avoid tetracycline antibiotics and vitamin A supplements while taking it. May cause mood changes or depression, if this happens contact your doctor immediately. Expect very dry skin and lips. Use sun protection.
